eluttmann1: Musictype: Musictype:When I watch something in vmcNetflix, then stop it, I lose the ability to use the remote control....
Anyone else experiencing this?
Not sure if I'm duplicating the same thing, but on a 32-bit OS I was able to verify that stopping it does not bring up the "Done/Restart/..." screen. However, I was able to use the "back" key on the remote to return to vmcNetFlix and also verified that pressing the "green button"....
Hi, Eric. My bad, I had changed the BACK button on my remote to BROWSERBACK and forgot:-( But pressing the GREEN button does not send me back to the Main Menu (and I haven't changed that one:-) But this and the "Player failed..." popup I described in post #290728 above, are the only issues. Thanks!

Anyone know if Netflix changed something again? I can't get vmcnetflix to play anything anymore.
I did install the TV Pack a few days ago, but it was working since then.
Then tonight it just stopped saying it couldn't start the player or something like that.. when clicking on a program to play.

Tried uninstalling and removing everything and reinstalling. I get an "unknown player error"

It works here.
I still get the "Unknown player error. Would you like to initialize..." at first, but it starts playing after that and I can click NO and get rid of the message.

Yeah, on the previous page, eluttmann1 did mention that he may know why the error is happening, as well as duplicated the remote control issue. Hopefully, he'll get the chance to fix these in a new version soon.

Upgrading to 1.1.5 has given me nothing but grief. Since installing I cannot play videos on the XBox. I either get a no valid license, or a codec missing error. I can play fine on the PC. Any attempt to reinitialize the player results in extender timeout errors. Waiting to let it just play through either error (as mentioned by others in the thread) does not work. Movies never play.
P.S. - I am also hit by the bug that when first loading the plugin on the XBox that the navigation keys won't work. Have to back out of the program and reload to navigate.

Here's part of the mind trip it's giving me: if I try to uninstall the plugin (following the directions on the main page and ensuring that I even manually remove all directories and then reboot, when I reinstall the plugin all my previous information is still there (ie., login name, bitrates selected, etc). Obviously I am missing something on the unisntall, but can't figure what it is. Also, on the uninstall I get an error about vmcnetflix download manager is still running. Whether I kill it or let it get killed on the reboot of the uninstall practice doesn't make a difference.
P.S. - I am also hit by the bug that when first loading the plugin on the XBox that the navigation keys won't work. Have to back out of the program and reload to navigate.
Nuts. Downgrading to both 1.1.4 and even 1.1.2r2 same issues with unable to obtain licenses, and Media Center crashing (extensibility) with any attempt to Intialize Player in vmcnetflix. Also, now, even if I can play a file on the PC that has DRM with Media Player, trying the same file on the XBox gets a no license problem.
Frustrating evening and morning last night when all you want to do is watch a stupid movie and have to go through these kinds of hoops.
Guess that's life on the bleeding edge of technology.

Update: Fresh install of Vista Ultimate (was on Home Premium) in a new VMWare box, followed by 1.1.5 of vmcnetflix plugin has me up and working again.
Only issue now is the previously mentioned lack of navigation keys on first load of the plugin on the XBox 360.
I edited it out of an earlier post, because I thought I'd found the answer, but apparently not:
In all my uninstall and reinstall attempts, following the directions of deleting directorys and even deleting all references to Luttman in the Registry, whenever I reinstalled the program, all my settings (login, password, bitrates, etc) were already in the plugin. I thought that this was because you were reading the cookies or something for IE for NetFlix, but on the fresh install on a new machine, even though the cookies should have been there for NetFlix, because I played a NetFlix file both in IE7 and WMP, there was no information imported into the plugin.
So, question is, on an uninstall and reinstall, shouldn't I have to reenter account information into the plugin? If so, what could I have been missing that kept that information on the machine?

I had a previous version working fine, and then it just all of a sudden stopped working. Nothing changed on my end, figured maybe netflix changed. Uninstalled and installed 1.1.5, and still getting the same thing when trying to play on an extender,
the Cannot Play Video, the file type is not recognized, blah blah blah.
Cloned license, tried re-initializing several times, along with a crazy long timeout (2, 3 minutes, something like that?) and still just getting the same thing.
Videos play fine in IE and in media center on the computer, but get this error with the extender.
I'd attach the logs, but there are none in the location that is listed on the page....
Tried everything listed, reinstalling the extender, reinstalling the program, reinitializing, resetting, cloning, etc.
Thoughts?

I have the same problem these people are having with the xbox 360.
I also have a suspecion as to why...
[q]"Went back to using external vmcExtenderSetup application - works for 64-bit OS's and has the advantage of being able to kill the process after timing out, if necessary."[/q]
On the FIRST time I installed this is what happened:
1. Setup IE, went to netflix, installed their player.
2. Installed vmcNetflix
3. Went into WMC, configured it as told to, played some movies instantly as a test.
4. Went into xbox, connected it as a media extender.
5. Went into xbox and chose netflix: told it yes i want to clone, started initialization.
30 seconds later i got a notice saying that it failed due to timeout and terminated... This I beleive is the key problem, by default it fails due to timeout almost every time, if I go in and change it to 5 minutes time out and then reset it, then on next login it asks me if I want to keep cloned data, if i say no i waste an activation and nothing changes, if i say yes it then asks me to initialize the player, now it works because I have increased the timeout. but the first few time it always timed out, it takes about 3-4 MINUTES before it gives me a box saying that initialization was completed successfully, but it still doesn't play anything saying the file sis not recognized and asks if it is possibly a codec / compression issue. And suggests reinitializing the player (Which does not work).
Actually, maybe with longer timeout a reclone WOULD work, I am just hesitant to waste them all like that. I already wasted a couple and I still haven't played anything (I am not too keen on that activating limit thing netflix is using... or their stupid DRM in general, pah)

I have the same suspicion.
[q]"Went back to using external vmcExtenderSetup application - works for 64-bit OS's and has the advantage of being able to kill the process after timing out, if necessary."[/q]
I cannot use the lastest version of vmcNetFlix Beta 1_1_5_86. My media extender is not an xbox, but, rather a DMA 2200. I was able to use NetFlix through earlier versions of the vmcNetFlix tool.
My timeout problem is a bit different. Since installing the latest vmcNetFlix Beta, my extender times out at 30 minutes. If I'm simply streaming recorded TV from the computer to the TV through the extender the extender logs out every 30 minutes. This forces me to get a new extender code and re-establish the connection. A major pain.
I'm not positive this issue is related to the vmcNetFlix software since I have made several changes to get things to work and I'm a tec dummy.
I would be extremely grateful if anyone could point me in the right direction to correct this timeout extender issue.
Thanks all.
BTW I did love this vmcNetflix Beta (previous versions) when I was able to use it.
