Re: XBOX New Release VS. vmcNetFlix

    1) yea i figured that was the case - i didn't pay much attention to it until it was actually released yesterday... but i was still a little disapointed.  i use my Xbox primarily as a media center extender so i have the remote and it would be much more convenient to be able to browse all the available titles and just choose one.

    2) i have a pretty good connection - usually around 10mbps down so it should have NO problem with speed. but for some reason it thinks it needs to downgrade the vide a few seconds in... pretty frustrating.

Re: XBOX 360 extender working again

If vmcnetflix works on your PC and your xbox 360 extender "cannot play video". Try deleting the "xbox 360 dashboard" file in the games folder in the xbox. It is found under the system tab /memory button / storage devices. After you delete it and run media center, your PC sends over another (more updated) copy. Hope this helps someone.

vmcNetFlix Beta 1.1.9 w/ Vista Extender Support (11/20/2008)

     Release Notes Beta 1.1.9 (11/20/2008):
    • Added option to use Web/Silverlight player instead of Windows Media player.  This provides some functionality for those using the new silverlight player.  The option was added under Settings\Movie Player.

Re: vmcNetFlix Beta 1.1.9 w/ Vista Extender Support (11/20/2008)

The new version works great with Silverlight.  The only thing is that the video controls do not respond to a remote, only a mouse, so you can't enable full screen unless you use a mouse to click on the full screen button.  Also, full screen does not work on Vista 64 bit connected to a TV.  The screen resolution is off.  But it works great with Silverlight still.

Yep, I am waiting to see if it works on extenders, before I touch the Silverlight player.

The fact that Apophis above mentions inability to go to full screen with the remote, and 64-bit full screen issues, makes me hesitant.

Love this plugin, hope it works.

And of course, thanks to Eric (and anyone else working on it) for the update.

Interested to know if it works on extenders as well!

Re: vmcNetFlix Beta 1.1.9 w/ Vista Extender Support (11/20/2008)

It connects to extender (DMA 2100) fine but I get no sound and its not full screen like what was mentioned before. The picture is not fluid (choppy) so thats a few things I'm having a problem with.

Has anyone tried the new release with an xBox 360 with the updated dashboard?

I have not updated the dashboard thinking it would break my now working netflix viewer.

Re: vmcNetFlix Beta 1.1.9 w/ Vista Extender Support (11/20/2008)

A few comments on the 1.1.9 release, which should answer some questions (and probably prompt more questions):

This was just a 'quick fix' in order to <somewhat> address the issue with those using the silverlight player.

These modifications do not force the use of the Silverlight Player, it really just gives you the 'option' to view the movie using the web browser versus streaming directly to Windows Media Player.

When using the web browser, netflix chooses which player to use.  If your setup to use the old netflix player, it should still use the old netflix player.  If your setup to use the Silverlight Player, it should use the Silverlight Player.

To use the web browser (instead of streaming to Media Player), you have to set the option in Settings->Movie Player.

When using the web browser, you loose the ability to put it into Full Screen or control the movie player features (i.e. Pause, Play, FForward, Rewind) via the remote - you have to use a mouse (or mouse emulation) device.  The "Back" key and "Stop" key will close the player an return to the vmcNetflix app.  One advantage is that when you "stop" and then replay the movie, it should start where it left off - this is a feature implemented in the netflix player.

At this point I don't know if streaming to an extender (or XBox360) will work using the Web Browser interface.  Also, I don't know if the ability to control the movie player using the remote will exist either.

Re: vmcNetFlix Beta 1.1.9 w/ Vista Extender Support (11/20/2008)

I wonder if is possible to somehow use transcode360 to do on the fly transcoding from the silverlight stream to a video file that can be played via an extender.  Not saying I have any ideas, just a thought :)

On the 64-bit Vista PC, is your default IE browser set to the 32-bit browser or 64-bit browser?

Wonder if using using 32-bit or 64-bit would make a difference going into FullScreen?  Also, does the Full Screen issue happen when launching the IE browser and playing a Netflix movie w/o Media Center running?

I just instaald the latest version of vmcnetfllix. I have a strange problem. I am not able to login to my netflix account. I am entering the right password and I get a message stating the login has failed.

Can anyone help me out. I created a shortcut to vmcnetflix within windows media center directly at the same level as Program Library. Should this have created an issue?

I figured  what the problem is , i streamed video directly from site and now vmcnetflix is working. I surprised by this behavior!

Re: vmcNetFlix Beta 1.1.9 w/ Vista Extender Support (11/20/2008)

Ok...So I see that issue off and on..

I tried to re-install a few times but I'm still having some funky issues as well.

After I install, and set it up I get the "Extender Setup Error saying that It can't detect my video player and to verify....yadda, yadda, yadda.  I verified that I can run Netflix in my browser Ok.   Even in Media Center, It runs ok...sometimes =).  So when I try to use it on my DlinkDMA2100, it go nuts.   I was never able to get it set-up on the Extender.   I havn't tried my Xbox360..

So I tried to un-install other add-ins for Media Center, to see if that was conflicting, but no dice.

Anyway...Great work and it looks very promising. Thanks for all your hard work.
