    wireless keyboard functioning outside Windows

Shouldn't the wireless keyboard function whi booting up? While trying to flash the ROM on my DVD I had to boot with the CD in then remove and "hit any key".  I not hit any key and get a result, I also can't use F8 to boot into safe mode or the arrow key to select a different boot. I had the bright idea of trying to plug in a corded keyboard and discovered there's no PS2 outlet to do that and I don't have a USB keyboard. Has anyone else run into this? Is it just the way it is or is there something different I should be doing to fix it?

    Thanks,

it depends on the keyboard and on the bios. Something to do with the handoff between bios and windows of usb HIDs. There maybe an option in your bios to toggle if its the bios or OS that accepts control form the keyboard.
I've been bitten by that myself once or twice and I had to plug in a corded ps2 keyboard.
