So I've searched high and low for a chassis that has as many features as the HP DEC Z series or even the Alienware Hangar 17, however all the cases that I've found pale in comparison. I've upgraded the HD in my Z555 to 1TB, have 2.5GB of memory, put in a 8400GS, and just updated to a WinTVHVR1600. The only thing that seems to be lacking for me is the processor. I'm wondering if anyone has come across any postings anywhere on the interwebs where someone has upgraded the motherboard in these units? I know it currently uses a proprietary/custom board, but I wonder if one can be found that can fit nicely and still make use of all the features of the chassis, such as PCI card placement, placement of CPU, and connections to everything else.. Thanks!
