the "stock" ATSC tuner in the z555 is crap

I'd always suspected it.  Always wondered why most of the networks came in at 4 or 5 yellow/green bars, but NBC, in the same broadcast antenna location, came in at only 2 orange (unusable).  We've had no NBC for 2 years.

I had bought a WinTV-HVR 1600 a while back when it was on sale for cheap, thinking I'd put it in my other Vista PC upstairs.  Well, I did last weekend, and I was pissed, for a while.

Pissed because ALL of the channels, plus several more, came in at 6 solid green bars.  Same antenna (it's now spliced between the two cards, so it should theoretically be worse now).

Anyone else ever realize this?  Now looking for a replacement low-pro tuner card for my z555.

    Thanks,
    Shawn

It doesn't need to be low-profile.  The z5xx series uses a PCI riser that enables full height cards.  All you need to do is unscrew the three mounting points for the PCI riser card (the bunch of metal) and pull up.  this will let you access the 3 cards plugged in here.

Ah, I haven't take it apart in a while.  I assumed it was next to the video card (which needs to be low pro).
