im stuck!
Have rebuilt my new build pc countless times and cant shake this error.
Specs
antec 6850b
Gigaybyte 78gpm bios f1 ( no updates avail)
amd 4850e
1tb wd green drive.
2 x 500gb wd drives
1x samsung 500gb drive
4g cosair xms2 ram
ati catalyst drivers that came with mobo - 8.4 i think
Vista Ultimate 32 sp1
tv pack 2008
play ready x86 update ( 1.7mb file ?)
updates kb951685/kb950754
pctv 4000i dvbs tuner.
gyration mini suite ( mini keyboard and gyration mouse.
Orginally installed OS on 500gb drive - but it kept blue screening with bugcode_usb_driver when you shutdown. and then no usb ports work after that.
Carried out various reinstalls with different ram - tried different OS still woulndt install. would hang part way through,
Hdd seemed to have gone. changed mobo for new under RMA and bought a new 1tb drive. installed vista ultimate successfully.
plugged in usb dongale for gyration suite - driver installed ok. plugged in mce remote - ok - plugged in usb drive ok.
ran it for few hours - all working smooth.
installed tv pack 2008 updates and pctv card. inc dll.
initially all working ok. recorded a few shows - sweet! went to bed.
next day - bsod all usb ports not responding. removed usb devices. still same. removed tv card. still the same. tried different drivers for tv card. no change.
in between various rebuilds i have removed all data hdds and built with only one drive in the pc. then once its stable added drives back in. also rebuilt with all drives connected - no change.
Finally rebuilt without tc card - Sent back via RMA.
left it for a day. then plugged in usb drive this morning - picked up ok and copied some data.
decided to install tv pack for whn i order a win nova s2hd.
plugged in dongle - nothing. tried all usb ports - no actiivity. then first usb port i tried gave stick power, but os wont detect the device...... rebooted it.....bsod...
going to rebuild again tonight without tv pack and see what happens.
gyration dongle works on other pcs ok, and has worked on my old gigabyte 690g/vista ultimate htpc for many months.
only thing im not sure about tis the play ready pack.....original file i got from here was 1.4mb. ( dated august i beleive) the one iv been installing is from MS site and is 1.7mb ( dated 10th october)
iv got two obvious things in mind to try after which im lost ....
1. Dont install any updates inc tv pack.
2. Install tv pack with older play ready
Any suggestions?
